Two weeks ago I blogged about court reporter layoffs in Utah, due to budget cuts. Now today we find out that the Massachusetts Superior Court will discontinue the use of per diem court reporters in civil trials. This news was first reported by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly on 1/15/09 and the changes are slated to take affect today, 1/19/09.
The only reason I mention this news is because it’s not all doom and gloom. In fact, Huseby Inc. is continuing to see exceptional growth in the court reporting industry and we are continuously looking to add highly experienced court reporters to our agency. If you are interested in joining our team of certified court reporters, contact us today!
Stay positive and remain optimistic. We all know that digital recorders cannot replace the invaluable services we provide to our Nation’s court system.

I’m an official at King County Superior Court, Seattle, Washington. We’ve just gotten news that a Senate Bill 5386 was introduced to replace us here in the courthouse with electronic recording.

Hi Kim,
Thanks for the information.
