There was an interesting article in the Daily Herald on 12/27/08 about court reporters in a Utah county being laid off because of budget cuts. Supposedly, they are going to be replaced with digital sound and video equipment. As we all know, there is no “replacement” for a certified court reporter, especially in court cases of high importance. The good news is, there are local attorney’s fighting for the reversal of the court reporter layoffs.
