Huseby continues to be at the forefront of sustainability challenges impacting our industry. A more sustainable workplace creates a culture where employees and clients can be more efficient, conserve energy, create less waste and value the difference they are making.

In 2013, we launched HusebyConnect which creates an environment to be completely paperless throughout the deposition phase of a case, with the ability to access and collaborate on work product across devices, and attend events anywhere in the world through live video. In addition Huseby has introduced bundle transcript, exhibit and video packages promoting a more sustainable way to deliver products and services to our clients.

A centerpiece of our sustainability initiatives, is supporting the ABA/EPA Law Office Climate Challenge. In support Huseby presents a sustainability award annually to an individual, law firm or company that goes above and beyond in their everyday work life to conserve their use of paper and energy.

The ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have designed a program to encourage law offices to take simple, practical steps to become better environmental and energy stewards.

The program includes four areas:

  • Adopt best practices for office paper management by reducing paper usage, increasing recycled content in paper purchased, or increasing recycling.
  • Participate in EPA's WasteWise program, which encourages organizations to save energy by reducing waste, and adopt best practices for office paper management (described above).
  • Participate in EPA's Green Power Partnership (Green Power) program by purchasing energy from renewable sources to cover at least a portion of electricity usage.
  • Participate in EPA's ENERGY STAR program, which encourages law offices to reduce energy use by at least 10% through, among other things, the purchase of ENERGY STAR-designated equipment and implementation of better energy management practices.

The legal industry is historically very paper-intensive and we are dedicated to providing technologies to help reduce paper consumption. Huseby, Inc. encourages all its partners and clients to take part in the ABA-EPA Law Office Climate Challenge.
