Keith & Miller offers its clients a variety
of court reporting services including: standard
reporting, realtime reporting, remote access reporting,
video-text synchronization, and e-mailed transcripts
with built-in indexes.
Thanks to innovative technology, realtime translation
instantly translates a court reporter's stenographic
notes into English and displays the text on the
court reporter's computer monitor, the attorney's
monitor, or even onto a large projection screen.
Lawyers can also send testimony by modem to other
parts of the building, back to their office, or
to be observed by experts, other counsel, or support
personnel across the country. At the end of the
day's proceedings, the court reporter is able
to provide a simultaneously printed copy of the
proceedings to the lawyers or to e-mail the transcript
and corresponding index to appropriate personnel.
Video-text integration synchronizes a video recording
with the court reporter's computerized stenographic
notes. The testimony then appears alongside the
video record. The development of this fully integrated
system promises to speed up the discovery process
by permitting efficient searching of videotaped
legal proceedings.

CART, Communication Access Real Time, is an assistive
communication, utilizing speech-to-text translation,
similar to television captioning. The CART reporter's
role is similar to that of a sign language interpreter
or foreign language interpreter. The reporter
uses a court reporting machine and computer to
capture the spoken language in written form. The
CART consumer, often an individual with hearing
loss, will read the computer screen, enabling
the consumer to participate in various settings,
both social and business. Settings include, but
are not limited to, legal proceedings such as
depositions, trials, hearings; meetings and seminars;
church services; and educational settings such
as college, high school, continuing education
classes. The text can be displayed on a computer
screen for individual use, television for small
groups, or large screen using a data projector
for large groups. To learn more about CART, please
visit the National Court Reporters CART website
at www.cartinfo.org.

A full array of litigation support services are
provided to assist our clients in all phases of
trial preparation and presentation through our
sister company, ALTEP,
specializing in professional document management
and other business services.
