Meeting
over video feeds used to be available only to large
corporations, but cheaper technology and widespread availability
of fast internet connections have made it accessible to just
about anyone. The Huseby court
reporting agency is pleased to announce that we now offer
video-conferencing services in most of our office locations.
The
Benefits of Video Meetings
Trying to arrive at a mutually agreeable time for a meeting can
be difficult even for people in the same office. When some
attendees have to drive in from other office locations or even
fly in from out of state, the task becomes nearly impossible.
Scheduling is much easier when remote personnel can attend
through video-conferencing. Travel time doesn't have to be
included in the schedule, nor do out of state attendees spend
more time traveling than being at the meeting. The savings in
travel cost is certainly helpful, but the savings in employee
time is worth more. The less time your staff is traveling, the
more hours they have to be productive.
Our
Court Reporters are Available for Video-Conferencing
When we provide your video-conferencing
needs, we would be happy to offer the services of a certified
court reporter to enhance your meeting. A reporter can provide
live closed captioning for your hearing-impaired employees. This
streaming text feed allows the conference to be monitored or
attended by people who may not have the video or audio to watch
it live. Finally, your video record is enhanced with an accurate
and complete written transcript of the session.
Video-conferencing that includes court reporting produces a
record that carries more weight. While a standard conference
meeting might not need the extra documentation, many events
benefit from having the record of a certified "professional
witness" like a court reporter.

Conference Tips
All attendees should be at the Huseby offices at least 10-15
minutes before the conference is scheduled to begin. This allows
our technicians to be sure that everything is up and running in
time for the meeting, and allows your staff to get familiar with
the conference room.
Clothing can do strange things on video. Avoid stripes and busy
patterns because they produce confusing images. White clothing
often appears excessively bright. We recommend anyone who is
going to be on camera wear solid, muted colors.
It is best to start the meeting by having attendees introduce
themselves. This is particularly important for people who aren't
on camera, for example attending by teleconference. This ensures
that all participants are connected and there are no technical
difficulties.
We use sensitive microphones which should be muted when not in
use. Sounds like coughs or creaking chairs can be distractingly
loud, and a whispered comment might be broadcast to the entire
conference.
One of the main reasons people use video-conferencing instead of
conference calls is the use of visual aids. Displays will be
reduced on video so keep visuals simple. Format them as
landscape to better fit the video screen.
