4 Tips on Preparing for a Long Deposition
Complex cases with many witnesses may last from one day to a few weeks. It is the court reporter’s responsibility to be prepared for any length of time.
Some tips for preparing for a long deposition are listed below.
- If you have children, ensure that you have a babysitter on standby for late nights.
- Prepare meals ahead of time for the week of your long deposition. Lunch breaks may be short, so bringing your lunch makes things easier and guarantees you will have something to eat. Preparing dinners for when you get home is also a great idea.
- Finish other transcripts before the lengthy deposition begins so that you can focus all of your time and energy on the current deposition.
- Practice stretches that will help you physically get through the amount of time you will be sitting.
